This came up on my suggestions last night - lovely piece, really liked the 'bridge' change and the way it develops. Your playing wonderfully weighted

Had a real eureka moment last night. You can always go back and revise your mix but whatever your workflow is if you get stuck try to keep pushing through with it and then review.

Was on the verge of starting automation last night on something but before I began I spent a good hour tweaking EQ settings, ambiences, etc as I wasn't getting what I was after.

At the end of it the mix was a lot cleaner.

However non of that work was as good or solved as many issues as the 15-20 minutes I spent doing automation after it. Pull a guitar back a dB here, push the vocals by 1.5 there.

Nearly have the first single for my new thing ready to send to mastering, just want to spend between 2 and 30 hours more finessing it.

Knowing I have a very capable band to play my tunes means I'm less inclined to spend any more time than necessary on my demos. Especially the drums, I used to programme each bar in detail. These days I'll just drag out a loop and go for it. Same with the vocals, just get the jist down.

Doesn't stop me getting demoitis though.

@moose Come on Wild Rocket your songs are too long! It ruins the efficiency of a cash grab playlist.

You should do what Marillion do, they split their long songs into parts. so a song that is 15 minutes long is actually worth 3 or 4 plays. More streaming dollaz.
