Thumped Guitar Players Rig Rundown (1 Viewer)

Fuck me that Kramer is a beaut.

Jordan sort your life out mate, I mean it's not as if you have a job, a kid, and are in like six fucking bands or anything!

I must finish up my new board, still have two pedals to build for it. Bass is still the '00 Fender Jazz, amp is Sound City 120 and cab is an ancient Ampeg 2x15 with Celestion G15 S100s. Couldn't be happier other than the dream of a dual rig of course.

New Gods or stripped down punk rig is '77 Fender Jazz into Peavey MKVIII head and Warwick 6x10, no pedals. Only the bass is mine and the head and maybe the cab will be replaced by one of my tube heads and a Matamp 4x12 at some point but it works perfect for now.

I played a gig last night. We forgot to bring my bag of pedals so I had to use an old low budget Danelectro slap echo pedal....and it was grand. It really makes me consider downsizing altogether

I missed my tremelo though and I never realised how much I rely on my Boss Chromatic tuner

Got a laney lc30, secondhand.

I still need to hear it up loud. But I like it. It had everything I was looking for, 1X12 speaker, 2 channels, on board reverb, good eq and not too heavy. The clean channel is nice and the drive channel sounds quiet similar to my JCM800 4211, which is a good thing I always use the pre amp overdrive ever since I bought the Marshall. It weights less than 3 stone as well, which I greatly appreciate.

My beloved amp has been getting worse and worse for years. Big awful buzz leppin' out of it. Took it to many shops and folks over the years, none who could identify the problem, and I tried various suggestions from folk, none worked.

Just before Christmas finally took it into Aladdin's Amps, and he too couldn't identify the problem, but helpfully suggested I just fuck loads of builders silicone into all the cracks and crevices. If you look inside the cabinet now it looks *awful*, but it worked! Sounds better than ever.

The only rig I'll ever need

Here's my main set up atm. Sound City 120 into Ampeg 2x15 with Spider Frame Celestion G15 100s. US Fender '00 Jazz tuned C# standard. Korg Pitchblack, Moose23 Grouch, one off overdrive/fuzz, Moose23 Dobsky, 70s Ibanez Phasetone, Boss Hi-band Flanger.

I should update my bits here, Loads has changed in he last year or so.

SO, changes since the last time I posted details:

Gretch Duo Jet

Have mentioned this before, actually had it since 2012. It has the larger 90s reissue headstock, but it's actually from the early FMIC days in 2003 before they brought in the more period correct Duo Jet features. Nice and light and the pickups are the alnico Filtertrons, as opposed to the ceramic ones from the 90s. Very low output pickups, easily the quietest guitar I own. The neck is slimmer then 'd normally like, but for whatever reason it doesn't bother me with this guitar. It kinda plays itself. Have thought about getting the bridge pinned but decided against it.

CIJ Fender Jaguar

Swapped my old US strat for this last summer. Had to scratch a Fender offset itch. Plays really great but sunbursts bore the bejesus out of me. They also look extra crap on a body made up of more then 2 peices of wood like here. See the line going downwords from just above the input? thats the change in the stain on a difference peice of wood. I've sourced some lake placid blue paint and a guy to strip the guitar. Might get around to it this summer. In the mean time I've thrown a white cratchplate on it so it does look a bit better. Rhe bridge pickup is pretty shrill but the neck sounds fantastic. Stays in tune really well, even if you go all Kevin Shields on the wang bar.

AC30

Yis have seen the bass before, but the amp is new. Simon (of Si Schoeder) has been playing a vintage AC15 twin for years and I just fell in love with his Vox, but defo wanted more then 15 watts. It took selling a few amps to get this as its a posh hand wired jobby, but it sounds lovely. It also has a 15 watt setting which I use a fair bit. I use the normal channel and I love the simiplicty: Vol, bright switch, Tone cut. Can't get a bad sound out of it.

I also got a Korean Epiphone Casino in cherry before xmas, but the pickups are out getting sorted and its awaiting new pots. I'll post a pick when it's back together.

Quite a GASy year in 2013 actually, but I got rid of loads of stuff too:

Nice work. What's your guitar list now? Still two SGs and the Tele?

I swapped the '61 Reissue SG for the Duo Jet, so its the Jag, the Tele, the SG Classic, Duo Jet, Casino, Dano Baritone, acoustic.
