I nominate that first Red Krayola album they are talking about, I've no idea what it is but I think that's the point

NOMINATION ACCEPTED
Just to clarify, this is the one Marlene has gone full steam ahead on:

Their second album.

trivia: the International Artists label which was the home of RED CRAYOLA and THE THIRTEENTH FLOOR ELEVATORS was run by Lelan Rogers the older brother of Kenny.

these are some of my own favourite well known LP's.
a lot of this won't be new to thumped folks but maybe a few of these might fit the bill...

THE WIPERS - Over The Edge (1983)
FUNKADELIC - Free Your Mind... and Your Ass Will Follow (1970)
SUPERCHUNK - No Pocky For Kitty (1991)
VIRGIN PRUNES - ...If I Die, I Die (1982)
ICE-T - Original Gangster (1991)
GETO BOYS - We Can't Be Stopped (1991)
CLUSTER- Cluster '71 (1971)
STUMP - A Fierce Pancake (1988)
BIG BLACK - Atomizer (1986)
ALICE COOPER - Love It To Death (1971)
REPULSION - Horrified (recorded early '86, released 1989)
THE ASSOCIATES - Sulk (1982)
THE BIRTHDAY PARTY - Junkyard (1982)
QUEEN LATIFAH - All Hail The Queen (1989)
VOIVOD - War and Pain (1984) or any of their five 1980's LP's
ACCEPT - Restless and Wild (1982)
ACCEPT - Balls To The Wall (1983)
MILES DAVIS - Bitches Brew (1970)
PERE UBU - The Modern Dance (1978)
MEAT PUPPETS - Up On The Sun (1985)
RUDIMENTARY PENI - Cacophony (1988)
BLUE CHEER - Vincebus Eruptum (January 1968)
HAWKWIND - nearly any album up to 1977 especially:
Doremi Fasol Latido (1972) Quark Strangeness and Charm (1977)
ROBERT CALVERT - Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters (1974) only LP I know of featuring Lemmy AND Eno

Everything I've heard from Voivod has been pretty good... but never went through a full album. Great suggestion... that or the Accept ones. Need more metal in my life.

I only like the first four Voivod records. Accept I go up to Metal Heart. Saw them on that tour, incredible. Dokken opened and were also incredible.

Voivod' s last few albums are their best since the 80's and well worth a listen.
The current guitarist is a dead ringer for Piggy's playing.
There were a lot of not so great records in the interviening years though.
Agree with Gary about Accept - great metal band up to the mid 80's.
Plenty of other metal records I could think of e.g. Sad Wings of Destiny (Priest, 1976) which defined metal for years after
