I've mostly resigned to believing that irish people are largely naturally corrupt and so long as something is good for you inner circle your level of concern for the rest of the world at large is minimal. we are tribal. trials and investigations and prison wont fix that.

I'm very ambivalent about the whole Anglo loan thing thing.

1. It was Quinn who caused this, Anglo were only digging themselves out of the hole he dug as best they could, with the support of the government
2. So it's Quinn's fault
3. But ultimately Quinn was spot on - it was a house of cards and he was right to bet against it

quinn and anglo were very friendly, to the point that anglo approved selling a further 12/13% over what is legally recommended to quinn, and they let him take loans from anglo to do it. essentially they were mates, and together they were going to own ireland.
