Cian Nugent & The Cosmos are throwing a big party to celebrate their forthcoming 7" Single "Hire Purchase" on the legendary Matador Label, as part of their Singles Going Home Alone subscription series. The single marks a major progression for Nugent, with the young virtuoso guitarist adding sweeping psychedelic electric guitar licks to his trademark finger picking style. This incredible new single is only available though this subscription series, However, a limited amount will be available at the gig.
Support comes from the Family Elan, and also The Cryboys, a new band featuring a great mix of players from Dublin. Full info below

CIAN NUGENT & THE COSMOS

Cian Nugent & The Cosmos are the full electric band that has developed
from Cian Nugent's solo guitar playing over the past year with David
Lacey, Ailbhe Nic Oireachtaigh (who both played on Cian's debut album
Doubles), Conor Lumsden and Brendan Jenkinson. New material shows the
added influence to Cian's wandering guitar playing of the eternal flow
of transnational desert blues, psychedelic thoughts on rock, feeling
fine, jazz ambitions, and the campaign to leagalise jamming.

Cian's debut studio album Doubles came out in June 2011 on US label
VHF after an EP in 2007 and a live album, Childhood Christian Lies and
Slaughter in 2008. And 7" Grass Above My Head b/w My War Blues
followed in May 2012.

"Cian Nugent's album is a deep bass through some of the most visionary
music of the 20th Century threaded together with maximum grace" - Jon
Dale, Uncut 9/10 rating.

"Nugent's already mastered dynamics tone and articulation. He
introduces each new melody or change of emotional tenor at precisely
the right moment to keep you on the edge with him, and his tunes are
sturdy and lovely things [...] Mighty good." -- Bill Meyer, The Wire

"Nugent smartly focuses on developing a pair of immersive environments
that are continuously compelling for more than 20 minutes at a time.
He nails it.” -- Grayson Currin, Pitchfork, 7.7 rating.

THE FAMILY ELAN

The Family Elan is currently performing as a trio, featuring Chris
Hladowski on electrified bouzouki, elektrosaz & vocals, Harry Wheeler
on electric bass and for this gig David Lacey playing drums.

Collaborators past and present include the singer Stephanie Hladowski,
percussionist Patrick Farmer, singer and multi-instrumentalist Hanna
Tuulikki, and double bass player Seth Bennett.

The scope of the Family Elan’s output is broad, ranging from self
penned reflective meditations which rotate on a devotional harmonic
axis, to irreverent interpretations of Bollywood hits, to Turkic folk
forms filtered through a psychedelic rock praxis.

Perhaps the unifying strand in all this is a deep interest in
traditional music forms and their reinvention through communal group
playing, in the current instance very much rooted in the Bradford DIY
“no rave” aesthetic.

CRYBOYS

Cryboys are a new band featuring Dylan Phillips (Dinah Brand, Pet
Lamb), Cian Nugent, David Kitt and Glenn Keating (Jape, Redneck
Manifesto) who play and sing anachronistic songs for sad uncles,
public transport and the pissy drizzle
