In June, Wordless Music and the National Concert Hall in Dublin present the world premiere of THE TREE OF LIFE, written and directed by Terrence Malick, with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and choir performing live to a full screening of Malick’s 2011 masterpiece.

Winner of the Palme d’Or at Cannes, THE TREE OF LIFE was chosen by Roger Ebert as one of the ten greatest films of all time in Sight & Sound Magazine’s 2012 critics poll, and by over 300 critics and writers last year as the best film of the decade so far.

In Dublin, a 100-piece orchestra and choir (led by conductor Ryan McAdams) will perform music by Bach, Couperin, Mozart, Berlioz, Brahms, Smetana, Mussorgsky, Mahler, Holst, Górecki, Tavener, Giya Kancheli, Barry Guy, and Zbigniew Preisner.

For this occasion, Wordless Music has partnered with Fox Searchlight Pictures to produce a new, music-less print of the film for the orchestra to perform alongside. Tickets go on sale via the National Concert Hall web site starting Wednesday, March 23.

What a complete bag of shite this film. Art me arse!
I was at a free preview screening for Knight Of Cups
Mad scenes in the lobby beforehand, people jockeying to get in to the free film
Once the film was on 20 min or so, people started leaving, screen was half -empty by the film's end

Not for everyone, certainly

Think cunts go to these Malick previews just to walk out

Did you like it?

These people like to go to free stuff. Lots of retirees and Uber drivers. There's a mini-subculture of these guys. I'll see anything.
For them it was "Oh that Christian Bale has a new film and it's playing for free on Thursday" kind of thing.
Not the chin-stroking aesthetes that paid full price on Friday.
The "fuck this" faces on those people walking out was great.

I liked the movie a lot. And the price.
