The Toasters are the United States' longest-running ska band, and will be playing their first ever gig in Ireland (North or South) in Belfast on Friday 12th September, a one-off gig as part of their Autumn European tour.

For the past 24 years The Toasters have been showcasing their 2-Tone inspired sound to the world and show no signs of quitting anytime soon. Lead by British expatriate Rob "Bucket" Hingley who formed the Toasters in 1982 and later founded Moon Ska Records which grew into the largest independent Ska label in the world.

They've carved out their own niche in history, amassing along the way a humongous catalog of music, including 15 albums and DVDs, countless videos, singles and EPs and innumerable compilation appearances. Consummate outsiders, they've turned down major record deals from the likes of Danny Goldberg and Polygram and have opted instead to run down their own indie track, with the help of people like Joe Jackson who is Buck's mentor and has produced several album sessions. The band has logged a staggering 5,000 live concert appearances on stages all around the world. In 1997 Billboards lead article dubbed them New York's Ska Pioneers. With their eclectic, instantly recognizable and idiosyncratic sound the group has been branded as the "Miles Davis of Ska" and the "Ramones of Ska" alike.

Formed on the Lower East Side of Manhattan they traded punches with the best of them at the legendary CBGB's Club (RIP) on the Bowery. With early releases produced by the great Joe Jackson they zoomed into prominence as America's early ska pioneers and have been blazing the way for the rest of them ever since. Alongside bands like Fishbone they helped engineer the American ska craze in the 80's and 90's.

Since that time they have continued to provide an international benchmark for the genre whilst never losing sight of where they cam from.
2009 will see them undertaking yet another world tour. 28 years, 5000 live concerts, 16 albums, a million miles...but most of all - 100% SKA

Pocket Billiards are a 9-piece ska-punk or punk-ska (whatever way you see it) band from Belfast. We have been about since 2000/2001. We originally started as a six piece but since then members have come and gone and we now have a line-up of drums, bass, guitar/vocals x2, keys, alto sax, tenor sax, Brussels Sprout trumpet and KFC trumpet. Our music is a mixture of melodic ska, reggae and dub with fast punky riffs and screamy bits.

S.T.U.N.T http://www.myspace.com/stuntonline

STUNT is a seven-piece Ska-esque experimental band from Belfast, Ireland. Formed a few years back in 2002 as a four-piece punk band called AKA-47 who did little more than rock the music scene of giros. Throughout the years STUNT has seen many changes and additions to the band, resulting in one of the most original and unique forms of ska/punk to come out of the Belfast music scene in years. Blending heavy metal, hardcore and punk with reggae and ska has resulted in what you hear today. STUNT have played with many bands throughout the years including Leftover Crack, Capdown and Sonic Boom Six and are currently recording their first full length album which is due for release sometime in the winter.
