[h=4] [/h]The Manhattan Syndrome take to the stage for their second headline show of the year. Fresh from a packed house in Whelans last month, the band return to The Workman's Club for the launch of their new label Walk Run Fall Records, with support from rising stars The Notas, and acclaimed songsmith The Former Soviet Republic.

Formed in Mayo and forged in Dublin, five-piece The Manhattan Syndrome have become regulars on the Dublin circuit. Their debut EP And we left it behind, released in 2011, was the realisation of a new found enthusiasm, and a creative synchronicity that drives the band forward.
With an emphasis on melody led vocals, taking influence from the drive of Arcade Fire, the mood of The National, and their own pop sensibilities; they have forged a dynamic style of their own. The Manhattan Syndrome's live performances have a momentum and energy that have secured the band a reputation as one not to be missed! Click here for full biography, and here for Facebook event.

"The EP is moving, thought-provoking and a perfect example of the talent that is brewing in Ireland’s underground music scene….
Easy to listen to, and even easier to love.” –

The Notas combine the sounds of reverb heavy guitars, haunting, electric synths and heart pounding yet dancey drums to form a wall of sound that will have you dancing from the first note. More information available here:

The Former Soviet Republic is the mostly solo project of I.H. Wright, started as a home distraction from the 5-piece Wright was then a part of, until he decided that going it alone was the right fit for him: a stance which subsequently softened with the use of a few guest musicians brought in at the tail end of making The Former Soviet Republic is Made Of This. Perhaps the main consequence of playing and writing alone was that without anyone to tell him that he wasn't in "that sort of band", his output has been a schizophrenic mix of loop-based insturmental music, multi-layered and pitchshifted shoegazey guitar workouts, short Beatles pastiches and singer-songwritery stuff that is nearly unavoidable when the only instrument you have genuine muscle memory with is a guitar.
