The Joinery Artist Residence - April 2014
The Joinery is happy to announce an open call for a week-long artist residency to take place in the gallery space this April/May. This is an opportunity for the selected artist to use the space to explore and develop their practice within a gallery context.
The residency is aimed at recent graduates and offers the opportunity to artists working within a variety of mediums to utilise the physical space, experiment with materials and display and further specific ideas. The artist will be given the gallery space rent-free to work from and at some point to open the doors to the public; this wouldn’t need to be a ‘finished’ exhibition but could be a screening, performance, discussion or work in progress.
To apply for the residency, please email:
-A short statement about your work (max 200 words)
-An artist CV
-A proposal of how you intend to use the space (max 300 words)
-No more than ten images of relevant work / sample recordings (mp3) / video clips (.mov)
The deadline for this application is Friday 28th March at 5pm and the residency will take place from Mon 28th April – Tues 6th May. Please email all applications to [email protected] with the subject heading ‘April residency’.
Call for submissions
We are currently seeking submissions from artists for a permanent or semi-permanent artwork. The selected artist will show their work on the roller shutter at the front of the building and it might take the form of text, image or graphic. We are particularly interested in artists who would consider the space in relation to the surrounding neighbourhoood of Stoneybatter/Dublin 7.
Includes modest production costs.
Deadline 28th March at 5pm.
Please email a short proposal with no more than six sample images of your work to [email protected] with the subject heading “roller shutter commission”, FAO Miranda.
