Has anyone checked out his solo album Queen of Denmark?
I've had it on repeat for a while now, absolutely love it.
Hoping to go to see him support Midlake on the 7th.

Apologies if there's old threads about it already, I checked and couldn't find any.

Shit, did I spell repeat wrong? Feckin spell-check.
I just realised I'm going to be in London the night of that Vicar st gig. Balls.

This guy was great last night.
The crowd really responded well to his material.

Any idea why Jason Lytle showed up for the encore?
Surely he wasn't the first support act?

I wasn't expecting a note-perfect AM 180. Great surprise.

He was. He played for about 25 minutes. Completely acoustic set. Nice songs too.

I didn't like John Grant at all. I thought his lyrics were cringeable - that forced humour didn't work at all I my view. And though a good singer, he came across (to me anyway) as nothing more than a poor Rufus Wainright imitation. Though I did like the song he did in the encore.

Bugger in anyway.

It didn't feel forced to me but I can see how it would.
Lyrically, maybe closer to Adam Green with the carcasses and such.
The merch table sold out of his CDs after the set. There may have only been 3 though.

really like his album. he played whelans a few months ago too but i didn't go. regretting it now. would have gone last night but midlake aint my bag. they're great on queen of denmark though.

I saw Grant in Whelans a while back, not really knowing too much about him. He reminded me of Rufus without the operatics, wasn't that impressed, but I've heard good things about the album, must give it a try some night.

I bought mine the day they went on sale.
And I love my "greatest motherfucker you'll ever meet" t-shirt.
I've never worn it out of the house though but maybe I will on my next date.

still haven't heard a note by him, but he was a fairly engaging interviewee on the saturday night show, of all places, last weekend.

This one for starters...
