the chipper where im from is well scabby, charges 20c for a plastic fork to eat your curry chips with.
Not until i went to other chippers did i realise it is common practice for them to throw a few chips in the bag if you are only gettin a battered sausage/spice burger on its own. They never do this in BERNARDOS!

yeah its dodge but the food is nice.
went there one night after pub closing time and heard a lad behind me say 'i feel great, id fuckin love to punch someone now'

I know the British chippers use lard, it has a distinctive smell.
AFAIK, Irish chippers use peanut oil, but I don't know what type
of spud they use.
They soak the raw chips overnight in salty water, fry them until
they're a bit less opaque and then fry them a second time when
ordered - they're the only tricks I know of.
 
McD's are cooked in lard, disgusting....
They stopped doing that, unfortunately.
Their chips was the only reason to go!
They used beef lard for their beef-less menu in India.
Hindus, who worship cows as deities, were not impressed.

ha ha it's weird to see people on here talking about my home village (town?!) - not you killy kill, obviously :p - Dino's is the opposite side of Tesco's to KCs, it's near the Mandarin chinese which is pretty yummy and cheap. I have to say, despite my family home being ten mins walk from KCs in Douglas, I haven't been there in about ten years....! I remember their potato cakes as if I just ate one yesterday....
