The Cosmic Right (2 Viewers)

IMO the "Cosmic Right" thing is just the Left's search for a conspiracy of our own. Can't we just accept that discontented people naturally form mobs? They don't need any mastermind to orchestrate them.
Nope, the left version of this is usually called Acid Communism.

I think the thing where people are protesting on the streets of Dublin calling for the arrest of the president and a trial at the Hague, then you step in and say anyones who thinks this is crazy is the real conspiracy theorist, well I think that is some classic gaslighting my friend.

Gaslighting me hole. I'm not saying the streets-bring-filled-with-loonies is ok, I'm just arguing against the idea that it indicates any kind of movement - the far-right will of course try and exploit what's going on, but they're not behind it in any real sense

Ahem, and now I re-read the article I see that's not what it's saying at all, and I'm arguing against a figment of my imagination. Never mind. Carry on

I like the term because it puts a divide between the "alt right" gangs of lads who were doing the whole ironic/not ironic fascism thing and a whole other group of people.

I mean, in some ways it's just the female friendly form, it fits with all the WitchTok kids casting spells and blessing themselves over the Salmon of Knowledge, and shows once again how there's nothing intrinsically "left" about subcultures or alternative lifestyles.

It's very interesting!

There is also a version of this that goes "there is no point making small changes in our personal behaviours until we take down massive corporations who are doing the polluting."

almost no point

I say this as somone who is reasonably careful about recycling and simultaneously thinks of it as basically an absurd contemporary cargo-cult ritual-performance by the strange race known as university-educated western professionals

I'm pretty sure massive corporations exist to sell crap to university educated western professionals though

Well there is this guy. The Most Influential Spreader of Coronavirus Misinformation Online

Well the far right are organising the protests here. That's a known/proven quantity.

I was reading this yesterday and I may as well stick it in here, not sure what to make of it at all.

the author is Elena Louisa Lange, a swiss marxist who usually has some really smart and interesting stuff to ponder (and that includes stuff in this newsletter also). but then she sort of goes off the deep end as the thing goes along, starts ranting about how PCR tests are bullshit, vaccines are toxic, yadda yadda. it sort of felt like reading someone who starts out as a bone-dry scientific socialist and seems to be then veering off into weirdo territory and you’re left feeling totally befuddled. not really cosmic right, but maybe somehow related. maybe she’ll turn up here and set me straight, who knows.

Couldn't finish it. Very incoherent and terrible grammar.

Which is fine for posts on Thumped, but if you're trying to convince the internet that you are smarter than everyone else, it's just not good enough.

In the face of the latest decisions by the French, Italian, and German governments to shut the doors of restaurants, cafés, clubs, and entertainment facilities to everyone without a vaccination passport, and identification requirements for non-vaccinated caregivers, teachers, and childcare workers taking place at the time of writing, we are de facto dealing with forced vaccinations.
Good.

years ago, in college, we managed to convince a few (not many) people that 'Pol Pot' had been named by irish monks, that it was the irish for Paul they'd used to christen him that.

I once met a man who had spent a bit of time with the Khmer Rouge as a photo-journalist, after they'd been ousted and were hiding in the mountains. Since he was Irish they nicknamed him "The Terrorist".

Linguistic nuance is anathema to them communists.

La La, formerly of this parish spent a number of years working for an English language paper there. Just from following her stuff on twitter when she was there it seemed like a place that was really still trying to disentangile itself from that period of time.
