So how do you take yours?

I like it black with a wee drop of cold water.

heres a recipe i found that uses tea

Ingredients:
300ml / 10floz strong tea
450g / 1lb mixed dried fruits (sultanas, raisins and currants)
175g / 66oz soft light brown sugar
350g / 12oz self-raising flour
2 large eggs, beaten
3 tablespoons milk
2-3 drops vanilla essence and a little mixed spice (optional)

you will also need 900g / 2lb loaf tin well greased and lined

Instructions:
The night before you mean to make the cake pour the tea over the dried fruits and leave to soak over night

next day add all the other ingredients and mix well. pour it all into the loaf tin and bake on the middle shelf of the oven at 170C/325F/gas mark3 for one and a half to two hours. leave to cool in the tin. Slice and serve well buttered.

yeah, i think i'd leave out the vanilla essence too and maybe a bit less sugar - all the fruit soaked in the tea would make it sweet enough i'd say

are you anything to peggy ellwood from the lake district? this is her recipe

Yauatcha in Soho serves some of the most amazing teas.

After a round of really expensive dim-sum (with bizzare and beautiful ingredients) and cocktails you can head upstairs for tea and cake. You can pay over 30 quid for a pot (i have memories of some teas being over 70 quid) but for about £7 pounds you get a pot of tea that make you feel like you've just stepped out of a salon.
