I'm flying to America in a week, and in additional to my normal luggage I have a 70 X 70cm art print which I am taking with me. This is quite large, but light. Will I have to pay extra to take it with me? Has anyone had any experience of something like this before?

Yeah, I would call. I am assuming it is framed? If so, pack it damn well because most of my framed items broke while moving here. Depending on the airline it will probably cost you around 7o Euro.

I paid 30 euro to lug my bike to spain last year (and another 30 to lug it back). This sounds like it'll need a fragile sticker on it. They cost a bit more I'd suspect.

Can you not just claim that you need to have it with you on board or something, like on medical grounds maybe?
