LAZYBIRD
Sunday, 8:30pm 'til closing
Anseo (upstairs), 18 Lower Camden Street, Dublin 2
___________________________________________

It's our usual end-of-the month session in Anseo this Sunday, and we've got two acts on the bill: LÓMELINDI, the electropop duo of Laura Kilty and musical workaholic Ian McDonnell, make a return visit, and we have the Lazybird solo debut of SHANE O'DONOVAN. Here's what the two acts have to say about themselves:

LÓMELINDI
Lómelindi are Dublin-based musicians Laura Kilty and Ian McDonnell (Lakker). Using a laptop and microphone, and drawing from a huge range of influences, they create fresh pop music of layered vocals, stuttering beats and odd textures. Together since late 2005, they have gigged sporadically around the city. Their Lazybird appearance this Sunday is their first gig in a while, as they have been busy in the studio reworking their old songs and writing new material which they hope to release later in the year.

SHANE O'DONOVAN
Shane O'Donovan is a Dublin-based jazz drummer and electronic composer. His music is a combination of many different styles and influences, ranging from the most abstract electronic music to the most laid-back jazz. Being a drummer, his music is predominantly groove-based, but also rich in harmonic and melodic content.

So if this sounds like your cup of Sunday tea, come on up to Anseo and watch Laura, Ian and Shane at work. Doors at 8:30, and it's 5 euro in.

Hope to see you there,
~lazybird~

UPCOMING GIGS
We've got four really great gigs coming up over the next three months, all in the Boom Boom Room (assuming it's reopened by then...) Read on:

On March 29th, London-based guitarist JAMES BLACKSHAW and Dutch lutist JOZEF VAN WISSEM both return to the Fair City, with Ireland's CIAN NUGENT joining them.

April 19th sees US folk legend PETER WALKER making his very long-awaited Irish debut performance.

THE FLOWER/CORSANO DUO, consisting of Matt Flower and the ubiquitous Chris Corsano, make their Irish debut on April 26th with THREAD PULLS, playing their first Lazybird gig in quite a while.

And on May 11th, we're very happy to present A HAWK AND A HACKSAW and their fusions of Western and Eastern European folk styles. Our own CHEQUERBOARD will be playing on the night as well.

More details on all of these gigs forthcoming soon...

NEW CHEQUERBOARD ALBUM AND TOUR
Speaking of Chequerboard, his next release on our Lazybird label is the full-length album Penny Black, due out tomorrow week (Feb. 29th). Here's more about it...

Penny Black is John Lambert's third release under the Chequerboard name, following on from his debut album Gothica (Reverb) and 2005 EP Dictaphone Showreels (Lazybird). Chequerboard's profile has grown rapidly over the last year due to extensive touring as well as his work with Donal Dineen. In 2007, John received a music fellowship from the Model Arts & Niland Gallery in Sligo where he spent a year writing and producing Penny Black. The cover and artwork for the album is comprised of shots of actual art pieces produced by John, all of which were sold at a recent exhibition. A series of live shows and exhibitions is planned for 2008, including a support slot with Ulrich Schnauss in May.

And here're those tour dates:
Feb. 29th: Stress @ De Burgos, Galway
Mar. 2nd: The Sitting Room, Whelans, Dublin (album launch)
May 2nd: The Button Factory, Dublin (with Ulrich Schnauss)
May 11th: The Boom Boom Room, Dublin (with A Hawk and a Hacksaw)
