another mini batch of juicy live acts, confirmed for the FORBIDDEN FRUIT FESTIVAL this June bank holiday weekend at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Kilmainham.

For the indie addict, Londoners BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB will be joining the already delectable main stage line-up for Saturday 4th June, playing their first show in Dublin since the release of last year’s top 10 album “Flaws”. Hip hop fans will be thrilled to welcome back alternative rappers SPANKROCK, for their first Irish show in 5 years. The group is set to play the Undergrowth dance stage on Sunday 5th, where they’ll give a preview of their forthcoming brilliant new album, which is being produced by Boys Noize. Look out for a special appearance from AMANDA BLANK.

We’re also delighted to announce that THE RICHTER COLLECTIVE - one of the labels pushing everything that’s wonderful about Irish music right now - will be curating the Lighthouse Stage on Sunday June 5th. Performing will be Cast Of Cheers, Not Squares, Bats, Enemies, Squarehead and special guests Tera Melos.

FORBIDDEN FRUIT – A NEW DUBLIN MUSIC FESTIVAL

“There is a charm about the forbidden that makes it unspeakably desirable.” Mark Twain

The sumptuous grounds of the Irish Museum of Modern Art will be the perfect setting this June for a modern day Garden of Eden, a gate-way to Forbidden Fruit.

The first multi staged music festival to take place in Dublin city centre, Forbidden Fruit sees Bulmers partnering with festival organisers POD. It’s inaugural outing will be on a site that is constructed in the shape of an apple, immortalising the key ingredient behind Bulmers. A collaborative fusion of music, art and fashion, Forbidden Fruit will offer four distinct entertainment areas, the main aligned to the core Bulmers Original and three tented areas dedicated to Pear, Berry and Light. The “Original Stage” will be nestled in a natural amphitheatre on the site, providing a diverse bill of live music acts appealing to music fans with The Core Bar at the centre of the site. The Bulmers Berry “Undergrowth Tent”; the Bulmers Light “Lighthouse Tent” and the Bulmers Pear “Pear-Shaped Tent” will be placed around the apple shaped site, each with a different offering to the festival goers.

The music line-up over the two days includes psychedelic legends The Flaming Lips who make a welcome return to our shores for their first Irish show since their mind blowing performance at Electric Picnic 2009. Famed for their elaborate live shows, the intrepid Oklahoma-based artists are set to lay on a typically spectacular stage experience, featuring stunning projections and light configurations, along with Flaming Lips’ signature costumes and outsized stage props.

If there's any producer in electronic music that you must listen to at least once in your life, it is Aphex Twin. An electronic musician described as "the most inventive and influential figure in contemporary electronic music", his music is always changing, always inventive, and liberally laced with his own brand of eccentric humor. Under a variety of stage names he has transcended through the various permutations of pop-oriented electronic music, fused together elements of each, and given us an insight into inner worlds vast and beautiful.

Precisely why Battles are one of the hottest US alternative imports is this; they are technically awe inspiring. Battles concoct a mix of strident post-rock, jazz and electronics, stunning crowds with mind boggling poly-rhythmic sequences hurtled at you with sheer sonic velocity. As vanguards they stand on their own in the realm of contemporary music. Also performing are unique UK quartet Wild Beasts, celebrated for their unusual blend of indie rock, folk, and operatic falsetto vocals. As quoted by the Irish Times; "the most original, strange band to have straddled the mainstream in years".

Caribou made his name as Manitoba throughout the 2000’s. In 2007, he released Andorra which continued his glowing reputation and yet despite high critical acclaim and awards, he remained on the cusp. In 2010, he released “Swim” along with one of the singles of the year “Odessa” which made Caribou one of the most talked about acts of last year. His incredible live show has made him one of the must-see live electronic acts around.

Other bands performing over the two days include Erol Alkan, Jamie XX, Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, Aeroplane, Colourmusic and Irish band’s Jape, Kormac’s Band, Ham Sandwich & Solar Bears..plus more to be announced

This is the first Dublin-based music and arts festival that Bulmers has sponsored and is arguably the best value festival in this year’s calendar, according to Michael Merrins, Managing Director, Bulmers Ltd.
“We are really excited about being involved in Dublin’s newest urban city festival - Forbidden Fruit. We are delighted to be partnering with POD who is presenting a highly imaginative programme with great enthusiasm and energy. Forbidden Fruit will be all about offering credible music and art at a great ticket price.

“IMMA is a fantastic venue for an urban festival with its extensive lawns, beautiful buildings all set against Dublin’s cityscape and I believe it’s the first time ever that a festival will be contained within the shape of an apple.” said Michael Merrins.

“I am very much looking forward to developing this new festival with Bulmers and am very excited about the line-up,” said John Reynolds, Managing Director, POD.

I honestly thought that Spank Rock had died.

Re: Spank Rock, Bombay Bicycle Club, Cast of Cheers, Squarehead & mo for Forbidden Fr

the new Spank Rock tunes are savage, a little bit more uptempo than the previous stuff - in a good way
