I don't really understand the audience gets whacked theory.

I read it on Digg.

Basically, we (the viewers) got taken out of the Sopranos.
We never saw it coming, everything just went black.

This explains the conversation between Bobby & Tony in the boat (& the reason it was shown again in flashback).

It also means that we don't know what the hell happened to Tony but that that our with him time was up.

it was just the fact that everytime the bell rings as the door opens we see events from tony's perspective - if that's also the case for meadow's entrance, then the 11 seconds means he's brown bread.

I was a bit disappointed last night. I thought the tension was going to kill me and then: 'Huh, wha?'.

Thinking about it though, I reckond it was a fitting way to end. It certainly defied expectations...
