Here, what's the best way of understanding the Irish showband scene for a total beginner, there's a lot of experts out there on twitterland but they're usually just sharing obscurities and injokes.
There was a book a few years ago called Green Beat. I'm sure there's others too.

Yeah, it's basic. But for the times we are in, it seemed appropriate. When I heard the demon voice and chunky riff in the second verse as a wee lad I thought "why doesn't every song sound like this?".

I'm not sure how I ended up there but I was just listening to a live versions of Led Zeppelin's the Crunge from 1975 on youtube and it was a real mess. The proper version is a top 3 Led Zeppelin song though.
