I'm thinking of sawing my 1960 Vintage in half and making two 2x12 cabs out of it.
Cos its too fucking heavy to be lugging around.Be handy to just grab half of it..and bring both if I needed them.Which probably wouldn't be very often.

What say you oh gurus of Thumped?

I'd put castors on it. I have a 4x12 with them on it it's no bother. Bring it to every practice and gig in the car and only have to lift it in and out of the boot (and up stairs of course but sure you have to carry everything up anyway)

Keep in mind you'll make a big difference to the sound, and I'd imagine pretty much no resale value if you cut it.

Hmm yeah.All good points.
Mine is on castors too which is a help.
I really don't like having to get it up and down the stairs though

Maybe I'll save up and get a Harley Benton 2x12

Don't do it. It'll be worthless and less stable and sound worse. You should be able to get a Palmer or a Harley Benton Vintage 2x12 handy and cheap.

I had a feeling it was a hair brained idea alright

Right so.Thats that decided.

Harley Benton FTW .The savings jar starts tonight!

Yeah the Harley Benton with V30s is such good value its daft. Sell the 4x12, get two of the Harley Bentons. Its a no brainer.

I still haven't bought a 4X12 cab & I won't be either. I'm not carrying one of those yokes around.
I have a 2X12 JCM800 combo, great rock amp but It's just over 5 stone. So it's staying in the house from now on.
