I can only think is a bad move for Tower.

Might be wrong but I think the landlord actually part owns Tower too, so they've prob not being paying the maximum rent that premises is capable of generating.

I'd say they're trying to get in a tenant to pay far higher rent, and keep Tower alive by moving it to another premises.

But losing that footfall...

Hope I'm wrong

Closer for me to work! Won't have to break my back to go there at lunch time!
If it is a bigger premises then they have to take the cafe? It's part of their 'business model' now anyway?
I wouldn't be over Nassau/Dawson at weekends though, so it's a tiny bit out of the way then...
So, I guess it's got pluses and minuses!

I used to have recurring dreams about that entire route! Except it always included a Georges Arcade type building down near Parkgate St, with two cool second hand stores, that didn't exist in real life.

What about Record Collector on Wicklow St and Borderline in Temple Bar? Can never pass them by.

My route

Off the bus at Eden Quay. Downstairs to Freebird.

Then go up to Henry Street. HMV and Our Price.

Into the Abbey Mall and Abbey Discs. Plus DTK.

Then the main Abbey Discs.

Over the ha'penny bridge and down to the Virgin Megastore.

Out of there, through the arch and Comet.

Then it's Trinity Records behind the Bankers.

Smile on George's Street.

Cut over to HMV on Grafton Street and Burger King for a feed.

And if I have time Hot Wax in Rathmines.

Will avoid Caroline's in Richmond Street as she's unpredictable.

They should make a better live music space if they have the room and have bigger/better events like David Bowie, Tom Waits, Neil Young, etc. playing there.

Tower in easons could do with a bit of sprucing up. Doesn't have half the stock of the other place

I don't see why they couldn't close that one in Eason's and plough all their effort into making the Dawson Street the 'go to' record store.
