Recommend some good prog rock (1 Viewer)

bill bruford suggested in his autobiography that fripp never did anything on stage except radiate negative energy. i thought it might be the cameras in this clip that drew the smiles although i did see another clip on youtube the other day where he looked just like herr flick of the gestapo except more humourless. i have been told by complete strangers that i look miserable and bad tempered so i have some sympathy for him.

you're not gone punk are you?

Bitchin prog riffery.

god, i love that tune. gabriel is such a good singer. phil collins is fine and all but his voice its always abit on the soft side. he could never pull off back in NYC. it seems that most potentially good prog falls down when they try to introduce singing. good prog singers:

peter gabriel
peter hammill
dagmar krause
gilmour and waters between them were flawless

any more? gentle giant are a bit too silly to be listed here - sorry portid.

Som Imaginário.. Brazilian Jazz Prog.

Crappy clip quality, sorry, and not their most Prog song anyway.. I lurve it

Phil is mostly more gentle but when he lets rip he's a lot more edgy performance-wise - think about the last few vocal bars of 'Mama', fu'n 'ell

Couldn't disagree more on Gentle Giant - awe inspiring band.

Most of the vocal work in Magma is amazing, on a similar tip, Italian prog is great for singers: Il Baletto di Bronzo; Franco Battiato; Area (Demetrio Stratos is one of the most extraordinary vocalists, full stop)

Might have mentioned this elsewhere but in the last couple decades bands like Thinking Plague and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum have been flying the prog / RIO flag.

THIS IS NO LAUGHING MATTER!!!

I know next to nothing about this band but that was very easy on the ear, albeit in a laughing at them kind of way.

The band YES and their album 'Close To The Edge', A classic album and as far as prog rock goes thus is without doubt one of the major ones.

I actually bought Close to the edge, Fragile, The yes album & Relayer since posting this thread. Lots of good stuff. The Capes were a mistake though.

Fair play , you might want to check out Emerson,Lake,And Palmer's album Tarkus which is another prog defining album.
