Recommend me some Jazz (1 Viewer)

strawberry fair in rathmines used to be a good spot for picking up ecm records for fuck all.
must be because of all the architects in the area.

i remember being at a jazz record fair in temple bar years ago where one guy, an architect, was selling the second copies of all the cds he'd bought without realising he had the albums already.

on the ecm tip... i'm listening to this one now: The Gary Burton Quintet* with Eberhard Weber - Ring. really like this record. reminds me of tortoise at times, not sure exactly why.
Aww!! YOU HAVE GOT TO CHECK OUT Fluid Rustle by Eberhard!!

What an album! 10/10!

I absolutely adore Gary Burton ..always have..so many great players been through his bands and more great albums than you can mention..theres a great duet one with Keith Jarret springs to mind

In other Jazz news check out The Blueprint is a great show on Jazz Fm..100% quality

Also..was listening to Brad Mehldaus latest last night..absolute cracker

Saw him play in Trinners in 95! Legend!

this one's pretty ok too: Dave Liebman* - Lookout Farm

i have more ecm records that i don't feel i've listened to in enough detail to comment. giving this one a blast now, will let you know: Steve Kuhn - Non-Fiction
Speaking of notable Kuhns..Check out Joachim Kuhns Prince Of Whales for some easily accessible yet soaring piano work
Taking his cues from McCoy Tyners mid 70s output I reckon! Fly With The Wind is one of my desert island discs for sure..but they're all fantastic!Like seriously.

I shook his hand incidentally! And Elvins!

Alice Coltrane - Lords Of Lords - reissue from early 70s I think. Its excellent. Sounds moe orchestral/scored/arranged/filmic than improvised but pretty great nonetheless.

This album needs to be heard to be believed ..amazing . Some drummer

You should check out Charlie Hayden and Alice Coltranes duet For Turiya..now that is cosmic
i picked this up last week. it is really something else. this is the only time i've heard alice coltrane play so gently. cheers for the rec!

Lately I've been mostly listening to Bill Evans and Chopin.

Bill Motherfucking Evans pictured here playing like a motherfucker on the Rhodes and Steinway simultaneously in an easy listening session from 71 that shouldnt be overlooked!
