Just discovered H.C. McEntire, bought her most recent album which I thoroughly recommend to anyone who hasn't yet had the pleasure:

SENSELESS APOCALYPSE - Untitled 7'' EP
21 song of very noisy Japanese HC/noise/grind from 1994.

I went through a bad patch from January to September 1995 and had
no motivation, didn't buy any records, didn't go anywhere (except to work),
didn't watch TV, read papers, no friends etc.
because i bought no records for that spell I still occasionally find something
from back then that i missed.
have all this band's other 90's records since back then, so great to finally have this.

DISCORDANCE AXIS - original sound version 1992-95 CD

discography of Boston grindcore band. the early stuff is cool noisy grind.
they steadily go toward more technical stuff like ASSUCK.
their later stuff (late 90's onward) still does not appeal to me at all.

the graphic design on this is the worst I have ever seen.
the replaced their cool early logo with a ghastly modern 90's techno one.
there is so little info in the 28 page booklet that it could have all fitted easily
into 3 pages. most of every page is empty black space.
yuck.

BIRTHDAY PARTY - It's Still Living LP
Australian live LP recorded in 1982 and released in 1985 without the band's
permission by Missing Link owner Keith Glass who wanted to recoup some of
the money he spent on the band's Junkyard LP.
this is the thinnest, flimiest vinyl I've ever seen.

BOYS NEXT DOOR - Hee Haw 12''
A 1983 reissue of the band's 5 song 1979 EP.
didn't know this pressing existed so delighted to get it for 15 Euro.
despite being on the same very thin vinyl as the above LP this sounds
mind blowing - on the CD 4AD released these songs sound flat by comparison.
the final song The Hair Shirt is one the best things the band ever did.
Nick sings backing vocals down the phone:

Most pleasant. If a punk band playing Mariachi is your thing.

Mariachi-El-Bronx-Album-Art-2020.png

Mott the Hoople - All the Young Dudes LP (the drum sound that Bowie produced on this album is magnificent)
Ian Hunter - You've Never Been Alone with a Schizophrenic LP (pretty good album, as it happens)

WIPERS - Over The Edge LP (1986 press of 1983 LP (Enigma))
A CERTAIN RATIO - To Each... LP (Factory 1981)

DELTA 5 - See The Whirl LP (Pre Records 1981)
Pre was a sub label of Charisma Records that specialised in reggae
and post punk. their other post punk signing was THE SCARS whose
only LP was brilliant but also a flop.
after three great singles for Rough Trade this should have been a very
good LP but See The Whirl's big flaw is the silly stabs of brass and keyboards
that pollute most of the songs. without those, would have been much better LP.
this has never been reissued...

a few EP's by Zagreb grindcore weirdos Patareni -

PATARENI / ATTA 7" (Total Noise Tapes and Records. 1989)
PATARENI / BUKA 7" (Falsanja Fol'kos, 1989) both below on same label.
PATERENI / BUKA / S.D.A. 7" (1990)
PATARENI - From Here To Eternity. Live in New Pingvinovo 7" (1990) live in Sarajevo '90.

SATANIC MALFUNCTIONS - Remember 7" (Teacore, 1989)
DISORDER / KAFKA PROSESS - One Day Son All Of This will Be Yourz LP (Disorder Records 1986)

more old hardcore I got in last month:

RF7 - '87 LP (Smoke Seven 1987)
ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT - No More Mr. Mister Nice Guy / Out of Hand CD (Bitzcore reissue of 89 + 91 records)
7 SECONDS - Blasts From The Past 7" (reissue of early 80's left over songs)
SEIKIERA - Na Swszystkich Frontach Swiata CD (2008 comp of Polish band circa 1984)
RADICAL NOISE / ASK IT WHY cassette (split Turkish demo from 1996)
MORNINGTON CRESCENT - Still Shocking (Gummopunx 2012) comp of Amsterdam band 1982-83. named after London tube station)
FALL OUT - Criminal World 7'' (Fear of War records. reissue of Italian band's 1983 EP)
RAPPRESAGLIA - Danza Di Guerra 7'' (another great reissue of 1984 EP on No Plan records. I had thought of them as being a lesser band in the stellar Italian scene - WRONG. really cool songs with some dark post punk parts)

Sometimes I copy and paste these bands I've never heard of into YouTube.

I presume you are not buying any of that locally?

No, I haven't been in Dublin since February.

came from 4 or 5 different people off discogs.
the used records was all cheaper than i'd seen them previously or in near mint condition.

the post punk LP's and WIPERS came from Spain.
most of the PATARENI stuff from a guy in Germany whose name was Yugoslavian.
the PATARENI / ATTA EP came from Holland (ATTA was an electro noise project of Erich Keller of FEAR OF GOD)
most of the remaining things came from a German seller called; awonderfulplanet. who has some really good
reissues and a few used records at good prices.

plus - also i got off a guy in Sweden:

ARNES PLASTHJARNA - 90-Talets Vis Samling 7'' and flexi (Svenne 1989)
ARNES PLASTHJARNA / RUSKA TUPP split LP (Svenne 1992)

let me know what you think of these guys ?
this is slightly before my time and I never heard of these guys until about 2009 or so.
fast short HC songs but despite the craziness more tuneful than I expected w/
even the odd keyboard part !
the humour here probably doesn't travel beyond Sweden.
must ask a Swede what this is all about.

RF7 are probably the most melodic of those bands i mentioned. they were from LA
from the same era as the ADOLESCENTS, CIRCLE JERKS, BAD RELIGION etc.

SIEKIERA were a Polish band who were hardcore punk about 1983-84 but then went
full on Killing Joke sounding on their 1986 only LP Nowa Alexandra which is a landmark
of Polish rock.

there was a big music festival in Poland back in the 1980's called Jarocin Festival
which 30,000 would attend. some bands on the bill would play styles of music
(e.g. hardcore punk) that would never get that kind of audience in west.
some great videos of Jarocin on you tube.

RADICAL NOISE from Istanbul were one of the very first HC punk bands from Turkey.

pretty much ANY Hardcore punk record from Italy released between 1981 and about 1986
was really special. a lot of the scene there took place at buildings that were squatted and
turned into venues, rehearsal rooms and cultural centres.

Moving Targets-humbucker lp
The Replacements-the complete inconcerated 3xlp
Johnny Thunders & Wayne Kramers Gang War -2xlp
Satan-cruel magic lp
The Crow-12"

My interest in punk & hardcore is very limited tbh. Just get curious every now and then.

I finally got broadband in 2008.
I spent about four years checking out every genre of music I could think of on youtube.
I mean everything - free improved, Khmer rock, Asian throat singing, Inuit throat singing,
Turkish psych, dozens of techno genres, Tropicalia, Baroque, Hi Life, Afrobeat, Congolese pop,
Klezmer, old Ska, Swamp pop, Kurdish saz music, Iranian traditional music, Italo disco,
Salsa, Italian movie composers, free jazz, surf rock, musique concrete, Indian classical,
Ye Ye, Japanese psych, Radiophonic Workshop, modern compostion, Dub, dancehall,
Zuehl, Kosmische and all other shit I hadn't heard much of before.

had a great time doing it - you can never know too much about music.
I found very few genres that were worthless -
e.g. Salsa had no appeal to me, but other than that the worst I could
say about any genre was that it wasn't as good as I expected.
You never have anything to lose checking something alien out.

I've listened to a huge amount of things over the years because I read
about them on Thumped.
I only liked the odd thing but I still do it.

Tim Heidecker - Fear of Death. Half way through and it is very good. 2020 is weird af man.

Malojian - HUMM. Keep my wussy northern brothers in business. We got to stick together. Haven't listened yet.

Ordered the last 3 manics cds as well.
