My Bloody Valentine - Loveless CD (I was influenced by one of those essential albums to listen to on headphones/test your hifi with articles. About 20 years after I ditched my first copy in a clearout. Blasted this on good headphones last night and it was great).
CMAT - If My Wife New I'd be Dead CD (haven't listened yet but all the singles are great)
Mdou Moctar - Afrique Victime CD (looking forward to see this lot live next month)
The Tubs - Names 7" (jangly Felt like indiepop from ex-Joanna Gruesome)

I got an email from the lovely people at Dischord last week saying my Dischord 200 boxset was in Ireland but had been held up at customs for a while. I paid 10 or 11 Euro duty on Thursday after An Post notified me and it finally arrived this morning.
they put a serious amount of work into this. probably the best reissue I've ever seen.

Bought those two new Neil Young live LP's. Didn't realise until I got home that they are almost the same set and recorded two days apart. Haha!!!

Fuck Amazon BTW.

and finally...
PAUL DOLDEN - The Theshold of Deafening Silence; Electroacoustic Music 1983-89 CD (1990)

Roger Doyle did a six part doc on Lyric FM about the history of elelectronic music in 2007 called Electrolight.
He played part of Paul Dolden's -Below The Walls of Jericho on one episode.
Dolden painstakingly layered up 400 tracks (heard simultaneously) for this piece.
Penerecki's Thernody For Victims of Hiroshima would be 7 on the Richter compared to this which is an easy 12.
If this sounds even of the vaguest interest to you PLEASE give the first two minutes a listen.
It's the loudest thing I have ever heard. Thank you Roger.

Thought I'd talk about music FOR A CHANGE

Monochrome Set - Eligible Bachelors 3CD thingy, this is so fucking good. Such an underrated band.

Orange Juice - Rip It Up LP - just thought I'd buy an actual copy of this

Adam Ant - Friend or Foe LP - ditto. The girlfriend had amazingly never heard this one.

Nation of Ulysses - 12 Point Plan etc. LP- been relistening to this, hadn't heard it in years, sounds great! I see Ian Svenonius managed to cancel himself there online a while back. Well done him.

The Britpop Box 4CD - this is that Rhino box that came out in 2007 to mixed reviews because its remit was seen as too wide, going all the way back to the Smiths. It's actually really well sequenced and the sleeve notes make sense of the tracklist.

CMAT - If My Wife New I'd be Dead LP - ah yes, new music. I was a teeny bit disappointed in the full album, can't precisely say why, maybe she's more of a singles artist? Maybe my mind will change.

Sparks - The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman cd - filling in a hole in the auld discography, haven't actually listened to this yet!

That and a bunch of cheap Island Reggae Classics CDs, which I've been having mixed feelings about but figured i needed to educate myself a bit more widely.

Bought a super basic HB 40W bass combo for a gig at the weekend. Just tested it out and it seems fine.Loud and small with a DI output. It'll do perfectly. Might try to sell it next week.
More exciting was the packed of velcro cable ties I added to the order
