I'm surprised you only gave Musicology 3 but I'm astonished that you rated The Rainbow Childred, C-Note and N.E.W.S higher than it!

I listened to Karma sutra, it's rubbish but its better than the other instrumental nonsense that came soon after.

The title track is the only track off Musicology I like, oh and On the Couch is pretty good as well. IMHO it might be his worst ever album.

C-Note and NEWS are mildly entertaining nonsense, I was probably being generous alright. Downgrade NEWS to a 4.5 sure.

Pretzel Logic is totally an 8.5/9. It's pretty much flawless AND features my favourite guitar solo ever on Rikki Don't Lose That Number.

1. "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" Classic track
2. "Night by Night" Love this song
3. "Any Major Dude Will Tell You" Great song. 3 in a row.
4. "Barrytown" Good song. Not a strong as the previous 3
5. "East St. Louis Toodle-Oo" (Duke Ellington, Bubber Miley) It's okay. Nice interlude
6. "Parker's Band" Kind of weak. Nice guitar solo
7. "Through with Buzz" I like this one
8. "Pretzel Logic" It's okay. Nice vocal harmonies in the chorus
9. "With a Gun" Again it's okay. Bit of a throwaway
10. "Charlie Freak" Good track. Nice piano sequence
11. "Monkey in Your Soul" Another bluesy soul vamp. Making up the numbers I think
    
    I prefer latter Steely Dan meself. The royal scam, Aja, Gaucho & two against nature.
    On those albums I think they really perfected their style & sound.

That's all I've heard by him. I will check out the others in due time.

Cuckooland hasn't got one decent song on it (except maybe that one goes "arigato, vanunu, konichiwa, vanunu etc") and the keyboards are shocking. Comicopera is decent although it took me a while to warm to it. It's quite odd. My ratings for the others would probably vary depending on the day. Be sure to get the original Dondestan and not Dondestan(revisited).

I'm listening to the Rolling Stones Black and Blue (1994 remaster) now. In the hot summer of '76 this would have sounded pretty good turned up loud with a Bass or Smithwicks in hand and a hot lady beside you.
