about:
With red eyes and raised fists, the rock n’ roll juggernaut known as Racebannon has lumbered out of Indiana and assassinated eardrums execution-style with its underpaid and underemployed audio-sonic mindfuck. These Hoosier bastard sons have birthed several illegitimate singles and split 7” recordings and left track marks up and down the country with their constant touring in support of said singles and their three full-length opuses. Entering their ninth year as Racebannon, this band of stalwarts have brought the pain and the rock to many a face, and have continued to hone in on and refine their sound without sacrificing their requisite anger and passion (read: balls). – D.Britts

“Avant-hardcore purveyors Racebannon hail from un-hip Bloomington, Indiana, and have been making some of the best neo-noise punk in the American underground for the better part of seven years with little to none of the fanfare that the kids in New York are buried in.” – Skyscraper
“…not too pleasing on the eyes. Or, for that matter, on the senses…” – Alternative Press

“Perhaps the most frightening yet talented band ever to assault your ears” – Delusions of Adequacy

“Racebannon never really fit into the parochial world of hardcore…Where bands like Mr. Bungle and Alice Donut spent entire careers failing, Racebannon has swept the premises and moved on.” – Magnet

“It’s all too cramped in here, drums pounding your skull and guitar strings jabbing your eardrums and the frantic wails of that caged animal, all of it here in the cargo hold. You can just barely smell the blues and garage rock, but they’ve been industrially processed, their sympathy filtered out until all that’s left to chew on is razors.” - Audiogalaxy

“If you took the driving thrash of The Accused, the funk inflection of Suicidal Tendencies, and the psychotic worlds of The Butthole Surfers and Mr. Bungle and threw it all at a bug zapper, the resulting explosion would be pretty close to Racebannon.” – Outburn

“If you're into this kind of aural violence, and I definitely am, Racebannon are pure genius.” – The Portland Mercury

“Racebannon is hands down the best nutso screamo / hardcore band I have heard this side of Honeywell, and pretty much the only band of this ilk that really carries that legacy properly.” – Collective Zine
“Just when you thought the hardcore scene had gone to pot taking itself too seriously, along comes a bunch of clowns to turn the genre over onto its back and fuck it up like a turtle in a tiger cage.” – Chart Magazine

about:
"Some people (like me, for one) wait endlessly for bands like Oakland, CA quartet Battleship to come along and wield the past like a hammer on present rockaroll staleness. They lift the snot outta 90s punk pricks like Le Shok and Skull Kontrol and shake the coffin jitters outta JAKS and Gravity-style spazzcore like Antioch Arrow, making caustic, rickety, huge noise that threatens to derail at any moment. Excitement for those of us unafraid to live in the moment. Really fucking tremendous panic rock. " - Dusted

" Presents Princess Reissue - 2006 On/On Switch - The Bay Area's Battleship bill themselves as a mash-up between The Birthday Party and Black Flag (or at least their label does), and in all honesty, it's not too awfully extreme of a boast. Their jagged guitars combine with purposefully lo-fi production for a dirty mix of anger, passion and self-loathing. "Parasite" could have been that fictitious Scratch Acid song Kurt Cobain might have heard before writing Bleach; "Song For Lucy" churns, explodes, grooves then dies while the epic "This Dirt," could have been written by The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower if they stripped themselves of The Sex Pistols and infused their sound with some Scissor Girls. Then "C-O-N-T-E-M-P-T" happens, a suffocating and terrifying mix of muffled, tortured vocals, grinding guitars and thunderous drums.
I'm shaking." - auralminority.com

"The band is a cross breed of Gravity hipsters Antioch Arrow, Captain Beefheart/Mr. Bungle controlled spontaneity, Melvins/Blue Cheer sludgy heaviosity, and Melt Banana-like noisy spazz.”

The rock n roll juggernaut known as Racebannon lumber out of Indiana and assassinate eardrums with their compelling style of progressive noise/hardcore, sounding like a razor-sharp amalgamation of mid-period Sonic Youth, Big Black, Wolf Eyes and art-school hardcore in the vein of early Black Dice, Antioch Arrow and Wolves! (of Greece). Racebannon have released records on SECRETLY CANADIAN, LEVEL PLANE and WITCHING HOUR.
