Pusheads top 100 of the 80's (1 Viewer)

cheers Gary - Erik does it again !
nice surprise as i was only reading his two previous posts on Sunday.

reminds me of listening to the Bleeaaauurrghh (sic) comps in the 90's and trying to remember
the bands on the basis of one short song.

Felix is quite soft spoken - i expected him to sound angry all the time or something.

whenever Pushead's list comes up i always think it was fairly American and UK orientated ?
actually Felix just mentioned something i noticed immediately - no Italian bands.
e.g. to someone my age a label like BYO isn't as important as it was then.

it makes me laugh at some of the records i'm missing on this list - some really obvious stuff.
i only have about 60 of them in any hard form inc comps, CD's and bootlegs.
and only a hand full of original pressings.

i think i've heard all of these bands at some stage except Aussies MASS APPEAL -
never heard them until now.
also the US East Coast bands from the late 80's i was never into so know the names
but have rarely heard them (by the time i heard of Revelation records it was 1993).

i never got to read Thrasher in those days (was 14 in 1990) but the few old issues i got
later (from 1987-88) are stellar. Puszone was definitely the best part of the magazine.

Gary -
i think you said the Puszone got you into HC ?
also you posted a video a few years ago of an English guy picking his favourite grindcore LP's.
i had no idea at the time but i think it was Erik N.I. told me it was Mike Foster who used to
run MCR UK.
i ordered off Mike a couple of times in winter 1993/94 just before he went to Japan.
so he's still in Japan after all these years - never heard of him again until those videos.

Puszone and Peel,i started skating in about 85 and I was already listening to metal and older punk so it was a logical step.

And yes,mike foster.

I've never counted up how many I have, should do that for a laugh.

i have 52 of the list having counted but only a few first presses (maybe 3 !)
about 23 represses/boots and a few more LP comps. plus some CD's
including some CD's that round up multiple EP's on list.

there's about 20 of the records on list that i'm missing i'd like to have.

i've sent away for THE FIX discography 4 times and still don't have it.
always out of stock.

i have some hilarious omissions- records that are easy to get and so i skipped
them because i thought they would always be available.
e.g. 4 Old 7''s on Dischord ! (i've got no excuses for that one)

not on list but Felix mentions them at the end is URBAN WASTE. i got to hear them
in the first few months i was into HC and didn't realize how obscure they were
at the time until later (thankfully everyone and their dog knows them now).

so i heard bands like TERVEET KADET, RATTUS, SORTO, KANSAN UUTISET, GAUZE,
WRETCHED, SWANKYS, CIMEX etc. before i heard CIRCLE JERKS etc.

i think this became a common experience later due to internet.
and reading MRR most of the above bands were mentioned regularly.

i remember reading RAD skating magazine in 1987 and seeing SUICIDAL, STUPIDS,
Slam City skates adverts etc. but i wasn't much into music until five years later
so i really missed out.
when i moved in '87 i couldn't get BMX / Skating mags locally anymore.

The fix discography lp can be got cheap enough on discogs I think?

I didnt count things I have on disc oi graphs etc,so I probably have at least 10 more.

Ireland was never amazing for records, but always good enough that I'd buy records in town rather than mailorder, although I did that too. I've done ca alright over the years though.
