Post Punk thread (1 Viewer)

Solid collection! I have the first three and the Madam Stan bootleg I got yonks ago at the height of my Adam obession. I'd like to get a copy of Friend or Foe actually, a class album, should have been a double!

Antbox is cool but they kinda fucked up the earlier stuff by including the re-recordings instead of the original band, it might seem nitpicky but it makes a big difference sonically when it's jumping around from a tinny demo recorded in Adam's living room or in rehearsal or whatever to big, shiny Polar studios or Abbey Road productions!

we've gone way off topic, does this song count as post-punk??

Great content thread! Hard to believe there's never been a post-punk thread before.

I played this video thirty times if I played it once last weekend. Hypnotic, eerie. Need to know more about these guys... conceptually and sonically they were definitely on to something... big. Aesthetic.

Continuing the Adam Ant connected bands, not too many non-white guys in the post-punk scenes, this song is fabulous

'Cool', followed by 'Volume' and 'Gravity' by Pylon from their 1980 album 'Gyrate.'
From Athens, George. Never even listened to these guys before December last... or heard of them much before that.

Hits that angular swagger pose hard... gawky bass...sassy, spiky stuff.

I heard this on one of these finders keepers mix CDs that had no tracklist. It took bit of time to find out who it was. Typing erection into Google..... Cool song though.

Finders Keepers reissued this oddball post punk 7" from 1979
one track sounded suspiciously familiar and it predated Blue Monday.

Snap. Rolled out the reissued boxset of vinyls the other day.. hadn't heard it since uh, 2008 possibly. they have frenetic moments, but some of their stuff *phee-oo* goes right through and over me. It's drug music, Jim, but not as we normally bracket it culturally.

Same NY scene, obvious one:

'My Love For You' - ESG, 1983, or possibly earlier.

People always make a big deal about the white guys incorporating funk basslines but rarely do they talk about the black guys listening to Devo and the like shooting their own version back. It's usually more dancefloor orientated and chasing a hit and Prince has a tendency to overshadow everyone but i'm always hoping to find a full on post-punk version if anyone has any suggestions
