Anyone else playing? Honestly one of the most fun games i've ever played. Only ever made it to #6 - twice.
Squad mode is very entertaining to watch.

nobody? FINE

just got a #4 finish there... without landing a single shot on anyone else.

What makes it different/better than other shooters? Not watching a 30 min video to find out.

WHY I'M GLAD YOU ASKED

it's basically a 100 player version of this:

And it's very, very good fun.

And it's designed by a bloke from Kildare

PlayerUnknown: One Irishman's battle to conquer the global game charts with a $200m hit - Independent.ie

And it's coming out on Xbox One later in the year and is going to make Brendan there a very, very rich man.

I've been temped by this but the mechanics and rules are still changing quite a lot, so I can't be sure the end result will actually be fun. Could be great. I'm kind of allergic to buying pre-sales and early access too though.

It's worth it. It should be the most frustrating experience ever, since when you first start, 9 out of 10 times you get killed from long range with no chance at all to defend yourself, but it's also really satisfying as you get used to it and start changing your tactics and avoiding those kind of situations. You know when a game just feels right? They've managed that.

Check out some of the stuff they're streaming from the Gamescom invitational.

Hmm, ok. Played 2 games there. Didn't try to land in particularly "hot" areas to give myself a chance. Wandered around for ages picking up stuff. Got down to the last 20 without seeing anyone. Killed immediately on first sight of an enemy. I'm not sure about this one so far. It needs a training level or something. I have so many questions....

Ok, playing in squad mode and it's a lot more satisfying. Also the learning curve is easier because I'm straight up just telling people I'm a noob. One of my favourite things is that when you finally get done you go back in your mind and try and pinpoint where it all went wrong.

Like just now I was going great co-op wise with 2 Germans and a Yank. They were teaching me a lot and giving me instructions. We all shared supplies. One guy spotted a boat, and there was a debate if we should stay in the car or take the boat. The boat won. That's where we went wrong.

By going in the boat this led us on a path where we spotted a dropped supply crate in the water. We went into a little bay and then realised we were being cut off by the advancing kill wall. We tried desperately to try get up the steep cliff face. One guy commented it was like in skyrim when you try and go straight over mountains. Thats's where we all died in the final 40.

Great craic though. But I'll admit I exited to lobby as soon as they asked me my Steam name!
