People Who Died (12 Viewers)

Jurgen Grabowski (1944 - 9 March 2022)
Eintracht Frankfurt & West Germany footballer.
Grabowski won two German Cups and the 1980 UEFA Cup with his only club, Frankfurt. He played in an exciting Frankfurt attack with fellow 1974 World Cup winner Bernd Holzenbein and Bernd Nickel who also died recently. Usually Grabowski was an attacking midfielder or winger but he started as a forward.
His career ended after a tackle by 19 year old Lothar Matthaus in a 1980 Bundesliga match.
Grabowski thus missed the 1980 UEFA Cup Final win over Matthaus' Moenchengladbach.
In 441 Bundesliga matches Grabowski scored 109 goals.

Grabowski was involved in three World Cup squads: 1966 where he didn't play, 1970 where his crosses led to Gerd Muller's winner against England and a last minute equaliser in the semi v Italy (Italy's 4-3 win a.e.t. was dubbed the 'match of the century') and 1974's victory on home soil where he scored in a 4-2 win over Sweden and played in the Final win over Holland on his 30th birthday, which was his final cap.
Another brilliant performance in 1972 at 3-1 Euros win at Wembley is still well remembered for starting West Germany's era of dominance but Grabowski wasn't selected for the 1972 Euro Final despite making the squad. Between 1966-74 Grabowski won 44 caps (5 goals).

Jurgen suffered from poor health in recent years and had been on dialysis.

Altered States, great flick. Questionable ending, but hey, that's classic Hollywood interference. Clearly not the ending the makers wanted.

William Hurt... the archetypal onscreen WASP surely. Lukewarm filmography ultimately [seems he should have worked with Cronenberg in the 80s, and caught DePalma at his peak... but unfortunately didn't] but a distinctive presence most certainly.

RIP to The Bad Guy...

One of the best characters ever. Was just watching some of these vignettes recently:

apparently when Scott pitched the character to Vince McMahon, he just quoted off his favourite lines from Scarface. Vince had never seen the movie and thought Scott came up with idea himself.
