Rebellin only just retired... aged 51, although he was riding at Ras sort of level for years.pro-cyclist David Rebellin was killed by a truck-driver while out training in Italy today.
Rebellin is famous for being 51 and still competing as a pro even up to this year. Dodgy as can be for sure, but now dead as can be.
I'd guess that Philip Gilbert did it too, but wouldn't be certain he won AmstelRebellin also sometimes played in big role of the first half of Giro before fading completely or abandoning.
In 2004 Rebellin (known as Tintin due to his haircut) luck turned: He pulled off a spectacular Ardennes treble of the classics - Fleche, Liege and Amstel. (Might have been the rider to do it???)
