People Who Died (7 Viewers)

All good points.

There is also the idea in the Brit (English) psyche people like him aren't around so much any more. We saw the same with Harry Patch a few years ago. People who exemplify the perceived ideals of a middle England, small c conservative country are vanishing, and what are they left with?

rip Captain Tom.

yeah, lots of 'we'll never see his like again'
it's the brits' own fault for not having sent a generation to a virtuous war for over 70 years.

Well, I'm sure I didn't start the day thinking "I'm going to go on Thumped and argue about the more esoteric ideas of 20th century socio-economic history today" And yet here I am, again. Sigh.

I think that for those few half decent tory voting brits that exist (and yes, they're probably pricks if you question them enough, but no more so than your standard elderly relative), they now have less commonality with the rest of the people in the UK.

RIP Mary
