Manfred 'Manni' Burgsmuller (1949 - 8 May 2019)
German footballer.
with 213 goals in 447 games Manni is the fourth highest
goal scorer in Bundesliga history.
most notably played with Dortmund and Otto Rehagel's Bremen
where he won the Bundesliga aged 38 in 1988 in a career
which lasted from 1967-90.
despite this he only won 3 caps (no goals...)

after he retired he continued playing... as a kicker for six years
in the NFL Europe (long defunct).
he died suddenly on saturday after being found collapsed at his apartment
in his home city of Essen.

Burgsmuller is certainly in 'the greatest player you never heard of' category.
I didn't know him (even as 80's kid) only becoming aware of him in the 2000's.

Jose Antonio Reyes (1983 - 1 June 2019)

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jose_Antonio_Reyes

Spanish footballer died in car accident this morning
and there was a minutes applause before Champions League
final tonight in his memory.
he started with his home town club Sevilla before playing for
Arsenal, Real Madrid (loan), Atletico Madrid and then returning to Sevilla.
he also won 21 caps (playing in 2006 World Cup) but didn't
feature after 2006 when Spain began to dominate.
he was still playing for Extremadura in Segunda Division and
was scheduled to play Sunday but now all fixtures have been postponed.

The first invincible to pass away, hopefully a few more decades to the next one. Scored crucial late equalisers in that unbeaten season.

yes. very sad. nice lad by all accounts.
forgot to mention he also had loan spell at Benfica where he
he won a championship in a third different country (also w/ Real).
considering he didn't reach the potential he showed early on
he still won a hell of a lot with his clubs.

i have to say i don't remember Fabrizio but many riders
like him go onto to be team DS's : strong, hard working,
team mates with plenty of ability to win in their own right.
