Jesus Rodriguez Magro ( 28 May 1960- 19 August 2018)
Madrid born Spanish cyclist. heart attack.

pro from 1982-93. Jesus rode for Zor 82-86, Teka 1987
and finally Reynolds/Banesto.
he had four career wins of which 1986 Tour of Asturias was the best.
and rode 19 grand tours with only one abandon.
11th in 1984 Vuelta was his best finish.
good stuff but the real yardstick for a strong team rider
(domestique) is helping your team leader win Grand Tours
and Rodriguez was very successful at this with :

Alvaro Pino - 1986 Vuelta Espana
Pedro Delgado - 1988 Tour de France and 1989 Vuelta
Miguel Indurain - 1991 Tour

despite all this i cannot remember Jesus at all.
was really surprised when i found out the career
he had. i suppose he just about obscure and old enough
not to register with me before.
his death also passed almost unnoticed in English language
cycling media.

Jim Brogan (1944 - 24 September 2018)
Scottish footballer with Celtic, Coventry and Scotland.
Jim won seven Championships under Jock Stein from 1968-74
among many other cups. he also played in 1970 European Cup
Final defeat to Feyenoord and won four caps in 1971.
the left back retired in 1978 after spells with Coventry and
he was sadly yet another footballing victim of dementia.
