Release date: 14th November (Delphi)
Whelans, Dublin – 21st November
Jennifer Evans, one of the finest, most distinctive Irish female vocalists releases her long-awaited debut album, Works From The Dip and Foul, on Friday 14th November in Ireland on The Delphi Label.
Ahead of that, Jennifer will release, 'Colours Of Bruises', the first single from the album, on Friday 10th October.
Listen to the new single, 'Colours Of Bruises' here:
The album was recorded in Dublin by Stephen Shannon (aka Strands) and produced by Stephen and Jennifer. As well as 9 songs written by Jennifer, the album includes 'Your Cause', a song written by Jennifer's good friend and fellow Irish artist Rhob Cunningham, and a cover version of Massive Attack's 'Unfinished Sympathy’.
Jennifer's irresistible voice echoes the jazz roots of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, and her live performances capture the attitude and modernity of artists like Anna Calvi and St Vincent. Jennifer's songwriting style is elusive and unique, and the songs are lyrically rich and ambiguous, instinctive and emotional, focusing on empirical knowledge, personal experiences, a questioning of identity, origin and home.
Jennifer skillfully combines jazz, blues and dark folk influences into a unique style is also rock while remaining soulful, ardent and graceful in equal measures.
Jennifer will launch her album with her full band at Whelans on 21st November.
