what do people reckon? on one hand things seem better laid out, on the other its all a bit dark and cavernous? I remember waterstones being really bright upstairs.. More space for the cafe tho, which is nice.

on the down side - late teens hipsters talking about 'vinyls', 'vinyl-players' and even 'vinyl needles' in fake american accents.

what has the world come to, this used t'be a grate liddle towin etc..

I think its great. It could do with being a bit brighter alright but I was in there for the first time on saturday and was well impressed.

I'd like if they could give more space to the new releases and staff-picks. Around the same amount of space as they had in the old place.

Seen nidge in there on saturday. Everyone was staring at him. I bet he was glad the place is so dark.

Only been in the once and not baught anything, but I like it. I like the compartmentalization.

It's quite dark, but I like it in general.
My only real complaint is that in the classical section, they have some lovely classical stuff playing (Glenn Gould playing Bach last time I was in) and half the time it gets blared out by some horrible crap coming from the speakers in another section.

I was in at the weekend and love the dark, low ceilingness of it. As much as I detest smoking it almost needs a load of smoke in the air to make it proper old school. I liked it.
The one thing I did notice though... what the fuck is the point in buying an album when it comes out new? A shit load of albums that I bought on release have now got a new deluxe edition with extra stuff. Even unexpected albums, like You La Tengo's Fade. Annoying.
