Something for quick editing of images for the web, that isn't as expensive as photoshop but is better than paint.net

gimp? irfranview? anyone?

I worked in a linux only web development team before, during which time I became familiar with gimp (after a bit of an annoying learning curve unlearning years of photoshop).

Basically it's a good option once you get used to it.

Or if you just want to try a free, online photoshop clone there's pixlr:

http://pixlr.com/editor/

handy if you want to just resize, crop etc. Nothing fancy!

As you see, there are many free image editing tools online. But I don't suggest you to use them to do with your editing work. Because I always believe that the free tools online do not have so many professional functions as the paid ones. And it is said that some of them might contain some virus. Check some free trials of the paid professional imaging tool to edit images first before you make your final decision if possible. I also suggest you choose one whose way of processing is simple and fast. It can save a lot of time for you. . I hope you success. Good luck.
