i love music books, best ive read, hmm, off the top of my head,

waiting for the man by harry shapiro (about drugs in music over the years)

all the rage by ian mc lagen (about the small faces, faces etc)

that one about church burning and black metal was pretty good. lords of chaos.

cider with roadies by stuart maconie which is very funny

bad seed by ian johnstone (about nick cave)

loads more, im too thick to read proper books.

I thought the Dave Lee Roth one (Crazy From The Heat, I think it was called) was going to be great fun. But it wasn't.

The Motley Crue one was just staggering. I must have lead a very sheltered life because I never knew people could be so....... depraved for so long and live!

I got one in Chapters a few years back, written by this guy who was hired (with his then girlfriend) to play keyboards with the Thompson Twins (bear with me!) when they were at the height of their fame.

The book isn't really about the Thompson Twins, its more about him trying to deal with his manic girlfriend as they travel the world. Its very sad in places and very well written. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I did.

Check out the Brian Eno book A Year With Swollen Appendices.
Really interesting book. The whole thing is a diary of one year of his life when he was working with U2 on the Passengers album among other projects.

Also, despite it being 90% nonsense, Hammer of the Gods is a cracking read.

Re: cant stop wont stop.

i wuz looking or reading about that somewhere, looks deadly.

you can borrow mine if you like. i have the CD too.

everyone already knows that Our Band Could Be Your Life is great, so i'm mostly posting about it here to remind mr old that i still have his copy...
