I always thought the line was

"A simple bra to occupy my time."

And I like Cozy's one from Jump by Van Halen

"Go on Jump, Maxwell Jump".

Any other good ones?

Hmmm I used to think, that in Optimistic by Radiohead, Thom Yorke was singing "Donna Summer's an alien" instead of "Dinosaurs will rule the earth".

Oh and this one used to always make me smile

The line from 'Groovin' by The Rascals
"life could be ecstasy you and me endlessly."

I always thought it was

"life could be ecstasy - you and me and Leslie."

Many nights I wondered who Leslie was...

Did you know that in the song "Nightrain" by Guns'n'Roses the lyrics are "Take your credit card to the liqor store" not "Take your wedded guide to the aer lingus store". I didn't. When I was 8 like

me quare wan used to think "forever in blue jeans" was about
reverend blue jeans as in the vicar with the cool jeans

My friend's younger sister thought that Paul Brady's "The World is What You Make It" was "The World is Watchin' Naked".

Not very funny but it's the only one I can think of right now so piss off.

Made me laugh :)
In 'Method Acting' by Bright Eyes the line "My love stays with you like sunlight and air" sounds like he's singing "My love stays with you like some Ryanair".

queen buzzo tried to convice me that "on a rope" was "ponnero", and that i'm all shook up" was "amashacup" and that that meant i love you in indian

hahah! My friend tried unsuccessfully to convince me that that song was about River's Dad beating him up cos he couldn't get served in a "liquor store". He got Pinkerton before us, so we hadn't much evidence for ourselves, until we found out it was actually called "Why Bother", then everything made much more sense...

I always thought that

"do they know it's christmans time at all"

was

"do they often know that christmas is a time that is different to, say, an object you can hold in your hand"

Sam Cooke has a gospel tune called The Hem Of His Garment, a beautiful song, one of my favourites, which goes

"If I could only touch the hem of his garment, then I would be made holy".
My counterpart thought it was
"If I could only touch the rim of his arse, then I would my hole."
