I relate to this too. People who want to hang out with other people every day also stress me out. I think its all about balance. Once I see a good pal friend a week and have a good chat with them, I'm good. I also talk to people all day at work so I genuinely love being alone quite a lot at the weekend and evening to recharge my introvert battery. The older I get I find the less I'm into groups, groups texting, big groups functions; I prefer quality time with one or a few people less, than lots of crap social time often. I can definitely slip into a very anti-social place too if I'm not careful. That said; I'm very lucky to have loads of friends who are great and always organizing fun things so I feel very spoiled in terms of company and friends - if I had none and no people around, it would be very, very different.

Agreed! After SUCH a social and busy December, I'm only just now coming out of winter hibernation. I MUCH prefer 1:1 or small 3-4 people groups.

I find my social anxiety has gotten worse with age, too, which kinda blows. But I also care less about forcing myself into situations when I feel socially awkward, which is also nice.

That might change. I'm much better now, at almost-48, at socialising than I used to be when I was younger. Small talk just comes easily to me now, somehow - and moving beyond it and getting to know people a little bit without having to hang out with them for years. I just needed practice, I think

I am AWFUL in social situations. It’s ridiculous.

Any of you - if we ever meet, please don’t take it personally.

I can be fairly rubbish myself. If I meet someone unexpectedly I can freak out internally and be like OH HIYA YEAH ACTUALLY GOTTA GO

Mine got kind of bad for a few years but has really improved over the last year or so, as in like I almost hardly notice it anymore. I just learned to stop putting so much pressure on myself to go out and be mr. social. Definitely helped. Like you were saying about having a busy December, I took it way handier this year and just met up with a handful of friends instead of going nuts trying to meet up with absolutely everyone. Think it helped, didn't get all run down and sick like I've done every other December over the last few years.

This is vital. The majority of my friends have a lot more social energy than me and for a while, I was telling myself there was something wrong with me. I'm practicing saying no more now and its helping. Its OK to not want to go to everything.

Yup, definitely. I'm actually fortunate enough that most of my friends have about the same social energy as me so it works well. I did used to find myself thinking that I have to every single gig that's on, what if I miss something really amazing? And I definitely don't get that so much these days. Maybe it's a getting older thing. Right now, I'm really excited about sitting in tonight and watching the last episode of Don't Fuck With Cats

This is actually more a lecture than an article, but....

Prof Michelle Norris, Head of the School of Social Policy, Social Work, and Social Policy & Social Justice, UCD presents, Unmaking Home: Making Homes for Shelter or for Investment

It essentially looks how the model of housing in Ireland has changed over the last century.

My previous post on this thread was grossly underrated.

Anywhooo

In the two-week period commencing 3 February this year, average coal consumption at power plants reporting daily data fell to a four-year low, with no sign of recovery in the most recent data, covering Sunday 16 February.
