Minor Musical Observations (2 Viewers)

Here's something you may not have come across unless you dive deep, PFunk trying space age disco for real. I'd say this one is more Bernie Worrell than Bootsy Collins and all the better for it. 1978.

Probably what you write after seeing Star Wars and Close Encounters on a George Clinton amount of drugs.

I've listened to all Grace Jones albums this weekend in order.

The AMOUNT of bass on 2008s Hurricaine ,compared to even the records she did in Jamica in 80 ,is mad. Its amazing how production styles have changed throughout the years ..no doubt due to the removal of the technical limitations of vinyl amongst other developments

Also her 70s disco records are unlistenable
We had the same barber for a brief period.

Speaking of Disco Grace Jones.. how is this not her? This is good disco

This lead me to reading that one of the brides of funkenstein is also on stop making sense

this is a more electro post punk effort from Cowley recorded between 1976-79. these songs remained unreleased until 2009 (as far as I know).

another archive release ('Afternooners' LP 2017) was full versions of music Cowley created for gay porn
film(s).
nice gatefold art on that one.

Eddie Vedders vocal delivery seems strongly influenced by Joe Cocker. And that's amusing to me somehow. I assume there's other similar singers I've not thought of, but I thought I need a little help from my friends.

Vedder had a Christian rock side project in the late 90s.
He did the vocals in the studio and they hired a model to be the front man.

Oh god, I do have some evangelical friends who back then, were baffled that I was perfectly grand with something like pearl jam, which I am in measured doses, so therefore how could I not like creed?

It's like "you like Radiohead so how can you not like Muse?, Or "you like Metallica how can you not like bon Jovi?"

The differences are tiny, but very important

He's pretty decent when singing other people's songs

Nice bit of advice towards the end of this from Paul Simon about using musical repetition in songs judiciously. Smart dude.
