It's possible that my feelings are to do with the fact I've been living in barns with tin roofs or unused holiday houses with concrete floors, walls preventing the sun touching any part of the place at any time of the day, with no insulation at all.
The damp is amazing though. Like you can wash the dishes, and put them on the rack to dry, and they will not dry. The water does not go anywhere. It's on the dishes, and it's staying on the dishes.
So you break out the big guns and wipe them down with a tea towel. Now the water is on the dishes, AND on the t-towel, and it's now staying in both places. For ever. There is no moving the water, the water is here and it's staying here. There is no "drying".
