IMITATION ELECTRIC PIANO
(Duophonic)
IEP released their first e.p. on Duophonic Super 45s and Drag City in 2001. It was received well, achieving single of the month then single of the year in Record Collector and a handful of positive reviews. Since then Simon spent periods between Stereolab duties writing songs for Trinity Neon (released in 2002) and the forthcoming Blow It Up, Burn It Down, Kick It 'Til It Bleeds album.
Influences range from Bernard Herman's film scores through classic rock to Canterbury psychedelia of the 60's and 70's, most importantly Robert Wyatt and Soft Machine.
The band have been through several line-ups in the few years since Simon started the band. The current line-up is proving to be the most stable not least because, at last, all the members live in the same town.
Simon Johns plays guitar and sings and plays most of the other instruments on the album at one point or another. His first single was made with My Bloody Valentine drummer Colm o'Ciosoig under the name of Clearspot. It was through this first and only single on Duophonic Super 45s that got him the job of bass player in Stereolab.
Bassist Andrew Blake has had stints with Felt, Mexico 70 and Wreckless Eric. And a guest appearance on Primal Scream's 'Screamadelica' playing harmonica for which he was paid with a chile con carne and a beer.
Lee Adams plays drums in IEP after switching from the piano and Etien Rodes plays the bass. And we are joined on stage by Jo Bramli of Brighton group Largo.

'Blow It Up, Burn It Down, Kick It 'Til It Bleeds' is released on 25th Sept

Mirakil Whip
We are delighted to have Mirakil Whip back after their truly great performance back in June. They are a guitar driven synth duo, and truly one of the shining lights of the Irish underground sce ne. Their sound is a mixture of intense swelling guitar and droney bleepy keys and samples, punctuated by the dulcet tones of Aaron Coyne all set to a backdrop of mesmerising beats.
