I've gotten a bit curious about this 50's surfy sci fi stuff lately.....thinking about getting one of their records.....but which one?..... any suggestions

Ps.
I'm looking for which ever is their most sci-fiesque....lots of theremins and 50's b-movie noises....but also lots of twangy rockin surf guitarz.....or does describe all of em?

Thanks

Not exactly identical but familiarity does breed contentment

They've released twelve albums

Best start with a compilation

"Destroy All Astromen" or "What Remains Inside A Black Hole"

Also "Live Transmissions From Uranus" [live surprisingly enough is a good primer]

As for the studio stuff I'd get "Project Infinity", "Experiment Zero" and "Intraveanous Television Continuum" first

"Is It Man Or Astroman?" the debut maybe next

"Your Weight On The Moon" and "1000X" are more like mini-albums if you prefer smaller doses.

While I'd leave "A Spectrum Of Infinite Scale" [the latest one], "Made From Technetium" and "Eeviac:Operational index and reference guide, including other modern computational devices" till last

They sound way better on vinyl and I believe that some of CDs may be missing the odd track here and there so go for the LPs if possible.

it was indeed. costume tastic

I only have independant television continuum due to it being 50p in a HMV sale a few years ago

I have a man or astro man sticker on my old guitar, but I've never heard the band... funny that

I must just say, with no relevance to MOAM at all that the new QOTSA lp is rocking my bleedin' WORLD

WHAT A BAND!

Saw them a couple of times stateside. Unforgettable

Havent heard the last album. In fact theres a good few I havent heard

On the evidence of this, you may be 100% correct.

I'm sure they probably played here back in the 90s...
