I'd make georgie boy the same offer, but I reckon I'd have the secret service "detain" me as making terrorist threats against our thieving kleptocrat bastard..er, I mean duly elected president. God, the superpowers always need a bogeyman, and Saddam is handy to the US media's eye off bush and cheyney's financial shenanigans (bush's well documented insider trading; cheyney's company Halliburton getting open-ended defense supply contracts, etc x 1,000,000). I'm not suprised that ONLY britain is unequivocal in its support of US policy-- I mean the british gov, not the people. The british aristocracy made the template for imperialist exploitation, and the US gov continues to take it to all new heights of sickness. But I'm preaching to the choir on this, eh?

Never any harm in preaching to the choir. At the meeting the other night Dennis Halliday made the point that Saddam Hussein has absolutly no links with Al Quieda and for that reason has no right to be attacked under that hazy all encompassing "War on terror". He also explained that the UN inspectors were not kicked out but withdrawn, brought back to America and questioned by governmental goons. Two days later a lot of the sites they had been inspecting were bombed to piss by America. Nice of the States to use the UN as spies.

I've always been skeptical of government--as any rational person arguably is-- thank haysoos for the internet, 'cause lots of americans are experiencing news from sources other than the mass media/cnn/time warner/big brother axis. It does my utopian-socialist heart good to have talks with people who're way wealthier than I here in the states who are fully as pissed as I the way our thief-in-chief and his cabal are wiping their buttholes with our constitution and bill of rights. Seattle is a pretty liberal town, but like everywhere the dispairity of wealth vs. poverty is extreme and sickening. I wish the UN could/would run the show without the us roadblocking/manipulating. I was in Mayo during the WTO, and the unbridled blood lust of our police/gov was made more shocking by fact that I first saw reports in Gaeilge on TG4-- watching a FRIEND being beaten and maced thousands of miles away in front of a retaurant I used to work at! It was strange to have felt like--well, what took so long? Not that I condone rioting, but it was obvious that the protesters were savagely set upon after being corralled by stormtroopers, and I wouldn't use that term lightly. My brother and his family have moved out of the country; I want to live in Ireland, not 'cause I have any illusions that its utopia, but Ireland's neutrality is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT and the Irish lobby in the us should not be underestimated. Ireland could play a pivotal role in standing up against the us/britain neo-colonial axis. As long as there are loudmouths like you and I here, I have hope that all is not lost. I'll certainly be in the street if bush lesser starts waving his dick towards Iraq. Saddam is not a nice man, but he's no more evil than the Saud dynasty...our allies....retch. The "war on terror" in Seattle has meant closing of Muslim-owned grocery stores and seizure of assets. Gladly, all kinds of people are steaming angry and in one case I know of, took collections to put one store back in business. I don't have all the answers, but there is a sense here that the war drums must cease, and that gives me hope. Nothing is more dangerous to bush and blair than a comfortable middle class radicalized!
