Chris Hughton being sacked as Brighton football manager.
he got them promoted to Premier League in 2017 and has kept
them there - let's see someone do better.
(doubtful - they previously only played in top division from 1979-83).
this is the third time he gotten a club promoted to the PL
and being sacked when the club was in a secure position...

Paul Kimmage pointed out on Sunday that Jordan Henderson admitted
after the match last week that he got an injection in his knee and took tablets
a half time to continue playing in Liverpool's amazing win over Barca.
i'm not surprised. (not illegal but...)
amazingly doping still isn't illegal in UK and testing in football is a joke.
every successful team now plays high tempo football that needs
very fit, quick players.
painkilling injections can't be good for sports people.
throw in dementia and and i'm very worried for football players
when they are older.

good to see PK writing about sports i'm interested in again
i.e. not golf.

He took a hell of a whack. I'd hate to think how sore he woke up the next morning after playing with it numbed up for the best part of an hour

If someone can get a line into my house that will do better than 1mbps I won't care who they fucking bribed because the state sure as fuck haven't been able to do it.
Well this is it, when the state policy is to NOT do it themselves why would they?

3 fucking years ago I was supposed to have fibre to my house and they stopped the lines half a mile away. The reality of rural broadband is that it's already owned by private firms; be it a wifi crowd like Imagine who we use or the mobile networks and their dongles.

To me it seems rigged to be doomed, the broadband minister is also the climate minister and the minister for Dennis o Brien, it's a politically unmanageable brief and I think it's just given to people to fuck thier careers

Classic Fine Gael.

yeah, I remember trying to 'listen' to music on myspace prior to broadband :
you would hear 1.5 seconds of music the it would buffer for 5 or 6 seconds
and then another second plus of sound and... you get the idea.
would also take about 20 minutes to load a 4 minute video on you tube.
also as i was being charged for long i was online with landline, the cost
went down a lot when i got broadband.
just a reminder to anyone who never used you tube with landline.
everyone deserves access to broadband.

the deal the government negotiated seems very poor value even by the
standards of Irish incompetence.
and a lot of people won't get a decent service until the mid 2020's (WTF ?)

it should never have come to this - should have been sorted a decade ago.

I have done my best not to rubberneck on the details of that Leixslip murder case but every day when I go into the shops the tabloids have something gruesome on the front page about it.

Honestly,I was going to comment on this too. I have so far resisted.
I thought there was supposed to be some kind of ban on reporting about it as well? or is there an easy way round that for the newspapers?

I don’t go into newsagents but have been scrolling past it on the RTE site. Total grief/tragedy porn, completely unnecessary. I’m surprised families in these situations don’t include media coverage in their victim impact statements.

Her parents must be going through a thousand hells. But even the accused boys parents must be in hell too.

And of course, here we are talking about it.

Maybe I missed it. But what's the latest on this? Did you get in/get your gear back?
Story is, the building & the lock up/garage where we practiced were sold. A vulture fund bought it, and they have a letting agency managing it. The needed to let some builders in to measure it for redevelopment. Instead of asking for keys, they builder cut the lock with angle grinder & popped a new lock on.
So We've gotten ourselves into a new practice space. There is no storage in it, so have to put my kit & cabs into storage.
