Love/Hate (1 Viewer)

Gonna check this out. Downloaded Series 1 offa Thepiratebay, as it doesn't seem to be available on RTE Player. I saw one episode a while back by chance while channel hopping, where
a guy gets assassinated, IN THE FUCKING WELCOME INN

That was the best episode of either S1 or S2, or so far S3.

I find myself less able to watch graphic violence and scenes of nervous tension these days, especially just before hittin' the sack.

Despite all this and the sheer unpleasantness of last night's episode, I have to admit, it's very well made.

Not a fan of vicious graphic violence either. Goodfellas & Casino are two films that come to mind. Both great films but I can't watch the violent scenes. Thats scary shit. Watch out when Pesci's about.

I was only half watching it (i.e. it was on in the room while I was doing something else). I saw the rape/head smashing bit. It was pretty gross. I have a low tolerance for vicious graphic violence too. I feel if you are going to show shit like that then you have to have a good reason for doing so. I haven't seen much of Love/Hate (a few episodes of the first series) so I can't really make a call on it but based on what I've seen it's not exactly a searing and penetrating examination of urban decay or anything like that. Is it not just a way for viewers to get some vicarious kicks and thrills by means of OMG excitement ("Jeremy - to think there are drug dealers that live not far from here!!") and while it's at it perpetuating stereotypes of certain working class areas of Dublin as being nothing but drug-ridden hell holes? Or maybe it's not, I dunno. It did annoy me though for some reason.

i'm only on the first episode, never heard of it til i saw this thread today. the cast are terrible, there's hardly a dublin accent between the lot of them

I just watched Series 1. Nidge reminds me of a bloke I used to see around, so I'll say that's nailed on, I've enjoyed that guy's role. Apart from that, meh. Too glossy. Style over substance. Even Aidan Gillen and Gleeson Junior can't save it. Maybe Series 2 is better... It's decent, but not great, so far.

Just watched the first two episodes of this..its good!

Really enjoying this. I haven't followed a TV show in ages. I interested to see how Nidge gets out of this pickle. Great actor that guy.

Yeah, think Frano (character and acting) has leapt from 5/10 to 8/10 in this season. Highlight for me was the Avatar shag in the alley.

Frano is outacting the lot of them. Darren is just irritating now, if he ever was anything else. I watch it but man the amount of things that make no sense really fucking grinds my gears.

Dano once played trad music on the Titanic and made friends with Leo De Cap
