Jaysus Pete. If the property market crashed tomorrow would all of us who are renting say to you (a house owner, I believe) 'You made an investment decision and you lost out - boo fucking hoo'? If the paper value of your house dropped dramatically because of some government policy shift, wouldn't you feel aggrieved (even though your ability to pay your mortgage wouldn't be affected, cos that depends on your income)? Wouldn't you feel that maybe people like yourself who were all of a sudden paying way over the odds for their accommodation (as opposed to landlords and speculators, who could go fuck themselves) should be helped out in some way by those who were ultimately responsible for the situation?
