Let's get this over with, Albums of the Year 2018, definitive and comprehensive lists. (1 Viewer)

I’ve started listening to IDLES because of all these lists. They’re deadly. I totally missed out on them during the year. They remind me of Sleaford Mods but set to music

I was a bit disappointed by the Sleep album. It’s grand but it falls short of the old albums and the stuff Al has been doing as Om.

Took them fucking forever but the Guardian finally have their complete list out

I didn't really ever buy into it. I think its hard for me to get over the whole hour long thing being such a definitive album, they eg, like, peaked and I'm not sure shorter versions of same are ever gonna wash as well.

The albums before Jerusalem/Dopesmoker are classics but you can hear the evolution from a great generic stoner metal band into something truly incredible over those albums. The new stuff just sounds run of the mill in comparison.

I never really got into High on Fire (Matt Pike’s more mainstream metal band) but Al Cisneros and Chris Hakius really went into the stratosphere with Om. They just keep getting better and better, which is why I think I find the new Sleep stuff so disappointing - Al is actively making some of the mos exciting music of the past 10 years and reHASHing (lol) Sleep just seems like a waste of his talent.

High on fire did nothing for me either, and my interest in Om didn't last. But those first 3lps and 7" by Sleep are incredible, especially hearing them as they came out.
Those Sleep records were a really, really hard sell at the time.

Key question: Jerusalem or Dopesmoker?

(There is a correct answer here)

That's the one i heard first,I got the bootleg cd. To be honest,i never paid much attention to dopesmoker,as i already had the original bootleg.

I'm pretty sure I have the l.p.,but I never play it. That is definitely meant to be heard on CD.
