safe to say it wasn't a great year for music
Man I know the music will do little for me but I love loads of the artwork thereDoom metal site puts Sleep at No.1 !!!
The Obelisk Presents: THE TOP 30 ALBUMS OF 2018
I was a bit disappointed by the Sleep album. It’s grand but it falls short of the old albums and the stuff Al has been doing as Om.
The albums before Jerusalem/Dopesmoker are classics but you can hear the evolution from a great generic stoner metal band into something truly incredible over those albums. The new stuff just sounds run of the mill in comparison.I didn't really ever buy into it. I think its hard for me to get over the whole hour long thing being such a definitive album, they eg, like, peaked and I'm not sure shorter versions of same are ever gonna wash as well.
Key question: Jerusalem or Dopesmoker?High on fire did nothing for me either, and my interest in Om didn't last. But those first 3lps and 7" by Sleep are incredible, especially hearing them as they came out.
Those Sleep records were a really, really hard sell at the time.
Good man.Jerusalem
